The anticipation for the 50th anniversary episode of Doctor Who has been further heightened after two five second ‘stings” were screened on BBC One on Saturday night.
The clips, which were played before and after the start of Atlantis on BBC One, offered little new information for fans as no actual footage of the top-secret episode was shown.
However they did introduce the hashtag #savethedate in one clip, while the other featured a first look at the ident which will be used for the episode, entitled The Day Of The Doctor.
While some fans welcomed the arrival of the clips, others were more sceptical.
“BBC announce an “official” hashtag for the 50th but still no trailer. What’s up with that?” one viewer remarked on Twitter.
Another asked simply: “Can we get a real trailer now? pleaaaseeee.”
The Day Of The Doctor will feature both current Doctor Who star Matt Smith and his predecessor David Tennant, while Billie Piper – who played Rose Tyler – will also appear alongside current sidekick Jenna Coleman.
The 75-minute episode, which will also star John Hurt, will be screened worldwide on Saturday November 23 to coincide with the show’s 50th anniversary.
It will also be shown in cinemas across the UK at the same time.
The episode will mark Matt Smith’s penultimate outing as the Doctor before he leaves at Christmas and hands over the reins to Peter Capaldi.
