John Barrowman has tied the knot with his long-term partner in the US.
The Torchwood and Doctor Who star and partner Scott Gill announced on WhoSay that they had exchanged vows in California, following the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn the Defence of Marriage Act last week.
The couple posted a video on the site saying they were heading off to get married.
John said: “It’s five after one and we’ve got our coffee and we’re in the car getting ready to leave, because where are we going, Scott?”
The camera goes to Scott, who replies: “To get married. Yay!”
John then adds: “We’re getting married in the state of California. Thank you Supreme Court, about time you made it legal. Yay! See you after we have the ceremony!”
The couple, who have been together for around 20 years, later added a picture of themselves holding their marriage certificate, with the message: “We are now legally married. Thanks for all your great wishes. JB and Scott.”
The couple previously entered into a civil partnership in the UK in 2006.
Last week the Supreme Court declared that a key section of the Defence of Marriage Act, which restricts federal benefits for gay couples, was unconstitutional.
