Matt Lucas has given fans a taster as he begins filming the on the latest series of Doctor Who at Cardiff University

Matt Lucas has given fans a taster as he starts shooting the upcoming series of Doctor Who.

The Little Britain star is reprising the role of Nardole in the 10th season of the classic sci-fi programme.

He is currently on location at Cardiff University as production gets underway, and gave fans a glimpse of the action in a 51-second video.

Matt, 42, said he was ‘ecstatic’ to be back as he panned around, showing the Time Lord Peter Capaldi less than thrilled to be filmed surreptitiously.

Doctor Who will return in December 2016 with a Christmas episode, followed by the new series in 2017.

This time Matt will appear from the start of the new series.
