Matt Smith could be proposing to his real-life girlfriend on screen after landing a new role in a horror comedy take on Pride And Prejudice.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the former Doctor Who star has been cast as Mr Collins, a parson who is on the lookout for a wife, in the quirky, new twist on the Jane Austen novel.
Downton Abbey actress Lily James – Matt’s rumoured girlfriend – plays the woman Mr Collins proposes to, heroine Liz Bennett in the film.
Pride And Prejudice And Zombies, which is an adaptation of the Seth Grahame-Smith novel, begins filming later this month.
Directed by Burr Steers, the cast also includes Sam Riley, Jack Huston, Bella Heathcote and Douglas Booth.
In the film, Liz is pressured by her family to marry into a wealthy, upper-class home, but instead wants to fight a horrifying zombie plague.
Matt recently finished filming Terminator: Genisys with Arnold Schwarzenegger and also features in Ryan Gosling’s film Lost River.
