Peter Capaldi is said to have won over plenty of fans at the BBC with early episodes of his first series of Doctor Who.
The Thick Of It star has been filming his first run as the 12th Doctor and has so far completed five episodes, which, according to the Radio Times, a source has claimed mark him out as one of the best Doctors ever.
His storyline is said not to bring up previous incarnations of the Time Lord, and as the oldest Doctor he has more distance from assistant Clara (Jenna Coleman) as someone she looks up to rather than a mate, but the source confirmed that the chemistry between them was ‘sizzling’.
Peter is thought to have worked with Doctor Who’s costume designer Howard Burden on his character’s look, which includes a dark blue Crombie coat with red lining, dark blue trousers, a white shirt and black Dr Marten shoes.
The actor has said in the past: “He’s woven the future from the cloth of the past. Simple, stark, and back to basics. No frills, no scarf, no messing, just 100 per cent Rebel Time Lord.”
Doctor Who boss Steven Moffat added: “New Doctor, new era, and of course new clothes. Monsters of the universe, the vacation is over – Capaldi is suited and booted and coming to get you!”
Filming began in Cardiff in January and the new series is expected to screen on BBC One in the autumn.
