EastEnders character Ben Mitchell is due to return to Albert Square, with producers looking to cast a new actor in the role.
According to Digital Spy, EastEnders is set to welcome back Phil Mitchell’s troublesome son, who has been in prison for the murder of Heather Trott (Cheryl Fergison) since August 2012.
Earlier this week, Phil (Steve McFadden) was shown making the discovery that Ben had been released from prison a month ago, leading viewers to speculate that he would be returning and even that he could be behind the mystery murder of Lucy Beale (Hetti Bywater).
Ben’s return would stir up plenty of strong feelings on the Square from those who were close to Heather, as well as from Lola Pearce (Danielle Harold) as Ben is the father of her daughter Lexi.
The character of Ben has appeared in EastEnders on and off since his birth in 1996, with Joshua Pascoe playing him most recently from 2010 to 2012.
