Danny Dyer to take a break early next year
Danny Dyer will take a short break from EastEnders next year to star in two London West End plays alongside Sherlock actor Martin Freeman.
The 40-year-old star, who plays Mick Carter in the soap, is to take part in a season of plays to mark the 10th anniversary of the death of Nobel Prize-winning playwright Harold Pinter.
An EastEnders source told The Sun: “Danny will need to take at least a month and a half away from the soap.
“He needs to spend a considerable amount of time in rehearsals and on stage so it only makes sense to give him a break from filming.”
Danny was a friend of Pinter and he was mentored by the writer as a young actor. He spoke of his friendship with Pinter in an interview with The Guardian, saying: “I miss him, you know, he was a good influence on me. He was the only person I feared but loved.
“He had faith in me, he suffered all my s*** because he knew I was a talented actor.”
The season of 20 plays will be staged at the Harold Pinter Theatre in London.
