Benidorm’s Danny Walters joins EastEnders as part of ‘noisy’ new family, the Taylors

Albert Square has a new resident family and they are set to make an explosive entrance. Walford will never be the same again as the Taylors bring with them a mysterious secret...

EastEnders has welcomed a new brood to Walford, featuring Benidorm star Danny Walters… The Taylor family will burst into Walford as they move into No.23 on Albert Square.

The new family bring with them a mysterious secret… What the secret is and who it belongs to will certainly unfold soon. The real question is, will Walford ever be the same again?

Keanu Taylor (played by Danny) sees himself as the man of the family, as no father seems to be on the scene. He’s a bit of a charmer with a happy-go-lucky approach to life.

Danny said he already felt like part of the team despite only filming for a few weeks. He said: “Everyone has been so friendly and kind and gone above and beyond to make us feel welcome and supported. There has been a huge buzz surrounding the new family and I am so excited to see what the future holds for The Taylors.”

His mum, Karen, heads the family and is played by Lorraine Stanley, who has appeared in Call The Midwife, London to Brighton and Made In Dagenham.

Karen is described as a fierce woman who will do everything to protect her children. Those who know her well get to see Karen is loyal and kind-hearted.

Speaking of her role, Lorraine said: “I’m chuffed to be cast in such an iconic show that I’ve grown up watching. Working with my new family is really quite special, and I’m proud to play their mum.”

Karen’s other three children include Bernadette (Clair Norris) and younger siblings Riley and Chatham, who are real life brothers Tom and Alfie Jacobs. Riley and Chatham keep their mum on her toes as the boys both have learning difficulties. Bernadette’s biggest dream is to become famous and she’s usually found sitting around the house focusing on how to achieve fame.

EastEnders’ executive producer Sean O’Connor said: “I’m hugely excited at the arrival of Karen and her family in Albert Square. They’re noisy, brash and not-to-be-messed-with. Karen is a 20-a-day lioness, bringing up her kids with no support, no money and a very loud mouth.”

However, you can’t buy love and Sean added: “But though they may lack cash, the Taylors have love and warmth in spades. This summer is going to be explosive as the Taylors settle in Walford. The Square will never be quite the same again…”
