Actress and TV presenter Denise van Outen is reportedly in talks to join the cast of EastEnders, according to the Sunday Mirror.
Tha paper reports that the former Big Breakfast host has met with show execs to discuss a possible role in the soap, although nothing has yet been confirmed.
“Her agent has met with the EastEnders casting department to discuss a potential move and the conversation was very positive,” a source said.
It is the second time that Denise has been approached about making the move to Albert Square.
She was tipped to play the wife of gangster Johnny Allen – played by Billy Murray – in 2005, but opted instead for a role in the ITV drama Where The Heart Is.
However she recently hinted at the British Soap awards that she would be keen to appear in the show.
“I’d love to be in a soap at some point,” Denise said. “It’s one of the things which I have never done which is on a list of things I have always wanted to do.
“I know quite a few people at EastEnders because I went to school with Nicola Stapleton and Samantha Womack. I’m also best friends with Chris Parker who was in EastEnders.
“So I kind of know how it all runs and I love soaps, especially EastEnders,” she added. I know what I’m letting myself in for – hard work.”
