Former EastEnders actress Kellie Shirley has said that the ‘door is open’ for her if she wanted to make a return to the soap.

Kellie – who played Shirley’s daughter Carly Wicks in the show for two years told Inside Soap, “When Matt Di Angelo (who played Carly’s brother Deano) and I left, the producer told us that he wanted our characters to be ‘hidden treasure’, and with Shirley still in Walford, it’s nice to know that we could return.

“She does talk about her kids every now and again, but who knows what could happen to all of them in the future?” she added.

And although Kellie left the show in 2008, she still remembers her time in Walford fondly.

“I’ve got lots of brilliant memories,” she revealed. “Becoming friends with Barbara Windsor was amazing, because she’s a legend. We still meet up.”

However Kellie admitted that she wouldn’t hesitate if the chance to star in another soap came along.

“I’d jump at the chance of a part in Corrie – even if I had to wear leopard print and bleach my hair.,” she said. “But my ultimate goal would have to be winning a Bafta award. That would be pretty amazing!”
