Former EastEnders star Cheryl Fergison is reportedly set to appear in Celebrity Big Brother.

The 48-year-old actress – who was axed from the soap at the beginning of this year, with her character Heather Trott killed off in a brutal murder – is the first to sign up to the new series of the Channel 5 reality show, according to The Sun.

Cheryl, who played the loveable Heather for almost five years, apparently impressed CBB bosses with her sense of humour when she appeared on ITV’s Loose Women this week, and is thought to have clinched a 175,000 pound deal.

She recently said she was very keen to do reality TV, adding: “I do like them all so you never know… Would I go to Australia? I’d go anywhere!”

Last year, Cheryl married Moroccan goat herder Yassine Al-Jermoni, who is 20 years her junior, after they met online.

Celebrity Big Brother is due to return in August or September this year after TV bosses decided to air two series a year, and have reportedly increased the budget to attract big star names. The summer series will be shortened to ten weeks instead of 14.

Loose Women star Denise Welch won the most recent series, which aired earlier this year.
