EastEnders has welcomed its newest incarnation of Ben Mitchell to Albert Square for the first time.
Harry Reid has become the fifth actor to play the character in the BBC soap and entered Walford after his alter ego was released from prison, where he had been serving time for killing Heather Trott (Cheryl Fergison), but has been missing since gaining his freedom.
According to Mail Online, Harry was snapped filming scenes for the wedding of Ben’s dad Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) to Sharon Rickman (Letitia Dean) and was on set wearing a best man’s suit and clutching a can of lager.
He was walking through the street alongside Steve and Jamie Borthwick, who plays other best man Jay Brown.
As usual in EastEnders, all dials are set to drama for the wedding day as Sharon has been plotting Phil’s downfall since discovering he was responsible for the attack at her bar that left her in hospital, and Phil will have stern words with ex-love Shirley Carter (Linda Henry) outside the register office – who he will also have an affair with.
Ben has been played by four other actors during his 18 years as a character – Joshua Pascoe was the latest actor to play him and before that it was Charlie Jones. Morgan Whittle was the second actor to be Ben and Matthew Silver played him as a baby.
During his time in Walford, aside from his imprisonment for murder, Ben has been abused by his dad’s then girlfriend Stella Crawford (Sophie Thompson), come out as gay and been revealed to be the father of third cousin once removed Lola Pearce’s (Danielle Harold) baby Lexi.
