EastEnders actress Kara Tointon is apparently in talks to appear in the next series of Strictly Come Dancing.
Kara – who plays Dawn Swann in the BBC One soap – has already appeared in a charity special of the BBC1 reality show last year and won.
But she has been banned from taking part properly for the past three years as it has always disrupted filming when other EastEnders cast members have appeared.
However, since it’s been announced that Kara will be leaving EastEnders this summer – alongside Ricky Groves who plays her on-screen lover Garry Hobbs – the self-confessed Strictly fan can finally put on her dancing shoes.
A Strictly insider confirmed that show bosses have been in talks to sign Kara up for the new series, due to begin in September.
The source told The Sun: “Kara has made it no secret that she has wanted to do Strictly for years. Hopefully we can make it happen. She’s exactly the kind of contestant that we want on the show.”
It’s been reported that Strictly bosses want to ‘sex up’ the show to draw a younger audience and compete with ITV1’s The X Factor.
Kara won last year’s Strictly special for Sports Relief by dancing a samba.
She was partnered with ex-England cricketer Mark Ramprakash, who won Strictly in 2006.
