Hannah Spearritt heading back to Albert Squate as Kandice Taylor

Hannah previously turned up Walford last year - EastEnders has now officially confirmed the news.

S Club 7 singer Hannah Spearritt is returning to EastEnders as Kandice Taylor.

After appearing in two episodes last year as the rich sister of Karen Taylor, the 37-year-old star will be heading back to Albert Square later this year, according to The Sun.

A source told the paper: “Bosses were really impressed with Hannah’s talent and energy.

“She went down well with fans and created a great buzz around the show. She has a positive, hard-working attitude, which was infectious.”

When Hannah joined the soap last year, she said: “I’m over the moon to be joining the show, it’s such a huge part of British telly.

“I’m really looking forward to getting started and I can’t wait to see the Square in the flesh… Walford here I come.”

Hannah has had plenty of acting experience in the past, most famously playing Abby Maitland alongside Douglas Henshall as Professor Nick Cutter in the ITV sci-fi series, Primeval. Two years ago Hannah was also seen as Mercedes Christie in Casualty, plus she’s appeared in Death in Paradise and Agatha Christie’s Marple.

Of course Hannah is just one of many pop stars who have become soap stars. There’s Blue’s Duncan James in Hollyoaks as Ryan Knight, Her’Say singer Kym Marsh as Michelle Connor in Corrie, and Spandau Ballet’s Martin Kemp as Steve Owen in EastEnders to name a few.

EastEnders continues on BBC1.
