Kelly Brook has revealed she turned down a chance to appear in EastEnders because she wanted to pursue her acting career in America.
The British model – who played Lex Luther’s girlfriend in Superman TV series Smallville and starred in horror comedy remake Piranha 3D – told the Daily Mirror how she was approached by the BBC soap to discuss who she might play.
Kelly, 35, said: “I was approached by EastEnders a while ago, but I wanted to go to America first and try other things.
“They were creating roles, so it was a general chat about what kind role I could do on the show, it was a good discussion.
“I could see myself as a barmaid in the Queen Vic, I’d love it, I think it would be so much fun.
“But maybe in the future I’d love to do a soap as well – I’d love to do both.”
Kelly is next starring in US sitcom One Big Happy, produced by Ellen DeGeneres.
She said: “I think we’re making something really special. We’ve done six episodes, but I hope it gets picked up for a full 24-episode season.
“It’s nice to go away and work with different people. If it gets picked up I’ll be there eight months of the year, but I’ll always come back to Britain.
“We get craft service on set in the US – which means the food is amazing so you get a lot more doughnuts and coffee and all the naughty things. Keith Lemon doesn’t provide that.”
