Natalie Cassidy begins filming her EastEnders return

EastEnders favourite Natalie Cassidy has been seen filming her return to the BBC soap.

The actress played Sonia Fowler for 14 years until 2007 and has made a couple of brief guest returns, but recently announced she would be coming back as a regular cast member.

Now, Natalie has been photographed filming her reintroduction scenes, thought to be due to screen at Christmas, according to the Daily Mirror.

Carol Jackson (Lindsey Coulson) goes to visit daughter Sonia in Essex after hearing she is struggling to cope with teenage daughter Rebecca since her split from Martin Fowler (James Alexandrou).

In the photos, Sonia is seen wearing an apron and looking tired as she opens the door to Carol, who begs her to return to Walford.

Sonia is said to be reluctant to begin with, but ends up moving back to Albert Square in January as part of a ‘dramatic’ EastEnders storyline.

When her return was announced, Natalie said: “After seven years being out of the show, apart from the odd episode, I am extremely excited and honoured to be making a full-time return.”
