Chris Coghill will be back on TV screens in November when his character, paedophile Tony King, returns to EastEnders’.

In 2008 viewers complained about the controversial, pre-watershed storyline featuring Tony’s affair with his teenage stepdaughter Whitney.

Ofcom, however, decided that the BBC had not broken any rules and EastEnders’ received five nominations at the British Soap Awards for the plot.

Executive producer for the soap Diederick Santer said: “Chris agreeing to come back for these episodes will enable us to continue showing the long terms consequences of Tony’s abuse of Whitney and – I hope – continue to do justice to the issue of child sex abuse.”

Bianca Jackson, played by Patsy Palmer, will appear in court to support her daughter as she gives evidence over a video link.

Chris said: “I’m really pleased that I have the opportunity to come back and finish this storyline.”
