EastEnders‘ star Preeya Kalidas says that fans can expect ‘Triple S Pop’ when her debut single is released in July.

Preeya – who played Amira Shah – quit the BBC1 soap to launch a pop career and recently signed a deal with Mercury Records, part of Universal Music Group.

Speaking at The British Soap Awards on Saturday night, Preeya said of her new music: “I call it Triple S pop – Sexy, Sassy, Soulful pop.”

And her former co-star Marc Elliott – who plays Syed Masood – was quick to give it the thumbs up. “It’s good I’ve heard it,” he said.

Preeya’s debut album is out later in the year – but she can currently be seen on the big screen in Chris Morris’s controversial movie Four Lions.
