‘Prodigal son’ Syed set to join EastEnders

The much-talked-about ‘prodigal son’ of EastEnders‘Masood family is set to arrive in Albert Square this spring.

Syed Masood will be played by actor Marc Elliott, who has previously appeared in The Bill and Holby City – and he will reportedly cause a bit of a stir in Albert Square.

Soap bosses have hinted that the character will be smooth-talking and opportunitistic.

“It is so exciting to be joining the cast of EastEnders and be working with actors such as Nina Wadia and Nitin Ganatra who I have admired for many years.

The Masood family have really made a name for themselves in Albert Square and it will be interesting to see how Syed plans to stir things up.”

The soap’s executive producer Diederick Santer said that Syed would be a “fascinating character”.

“Entrpreneurial, reckless, dashing and complicated, he’s set to bring surprises and chaos to the Masood family,” Santer added.

Syed will arrive in Walford in May.
