Shane Richie revealed he couldn’t get emotionally involved in EastEnders‘ recent cot death storyline because of the pace of the soap.
Shane, who plays Alfie Moon in the BBC1 soap, told whatsontv.co.uk at the British Soap Awards: “When I came back I made Alfie that bit more animated because I knew how big a fall he was going to get with the cot death.
“But as soon as that storyline comes to an end, professionally and emotionally, you’re moving onto the next subject.”
He also talked about the downsides of becoming a father for a fifth time, but suggested he’d be having more babies.
He said: “This year it’s number five, this time next year it will be number six – I’m just going to keep knocking them out!”
Shane and Jessie Wallace won best on-screen partnership at the British Soap Awards, which screen tonight (Wednesday) on ITV1.
