Ex-Emmerdale and Hollyoaks actor James Sutton has launched his own company to help budding young actors.

James, who played Ryan Lamb in Emmerdale, has launched Broken Leg Workshops, offering workshops and weekend courses to those hoping to get into television acting.

Among those helping James train the students will be his former Emmerdale co-stars Mark Charnock (Marlon Dingle) and Danny Miller (Aaron Livesy) and Hollyoaks actresses Bronagh Waugh and Jessica Fox.

James cited his own experiences as a reason for launching the company.

“For me, starting out as an actor, most of my experience was in theatre. The aim of these workshops is to give people some experience of working in front of a camera, a completely different medium and set of skills altogether.

“Not only will this prepare the students for a career in television, the people they will be seen by are casting right now, so there are opportunities for people to actually get work or representation at the end of it.”

Split into two eight-hour days, students will work on different techniques before filming scenes with a Broken Leg Workshops team member.

On the second day, the students will receive personal acting training from industry experts and professional casting directors.

The first workshop will be running in Liverpool on July 28/29.
