Emmerdale’s Dominic: ‘No one is really to blame’

Emmerdale‘s Dominic Power has insisted there are no villains in Cameron’s latest storyline.

The actor’s alter-ego Cameron Murray is having relationship troubles with Debbie (Charley Webb), after she slept with her ex Andy (Kelvin Fletcher) in a bid to conceive a child to save their daughter Sarah, who suffers from a life-threatening blood disorder and needs a bone marrow donor.

Dominic told Emmerdale’s website the plot is keeping viewers hooked, partly because there are no real bad guys.

He said: “It’s hit a bit of an apex at the moment for Cameron, especially in his relationship to Debbie. The genius of this storyline and what keeps the viewers gripped is that no one is really to blame. Debbie is doing it because she wants to save Sarah, Cameron is just reacting to his girlfriend doing that to him, Andy didn’t want to sleep with Debbie, but she made him and therefore, they fell in love.”

The star continued: “It’s a tricky one. People ask me if I would do that in their situation, but I don’t know.”

Dominic also discussed the sparks of attraction between Cameron and pub landlady Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter), who offers him support.

He said: “Cameron is potentially swapping one whole lot of Dingle problems for another – that’s where the drama is. The most lustful moments… are quite animalistic. Cheating on Cain’s daughter with Cain’s sister is probably not the wisest of moves.”
