Emmerdale newcomer Suzanne Shaw has sad she is hoping to resist comparisons with her former Hear’Say bandmate turned Coronation Street star Kym Marsh.

Suzanne – who recently joined the soap as Eve Jensen – doesn’t want to compete with Kym, who has appeared as Michelle Connor in Corrie snce 2006.

“I know comparing us is an obvious thing to do because she’s in a rival soap but the soaps themselves compete against each other,” Suzanne said.

“I don’t think the actors should be doing that too. I’m just doing my own job, my own character and I’m doing what I enjoy doing.”

Suzanne also said she thought Kym “does a very good job” and described her as “a very talented girl”.

However she admitted she had not seen the star, or any of her other former bandmates from Hear’Say – who were formed on the 2000 talent show Popstars – for some time.

“I’m really proud of her, Myleene, Danny, Noel,” Suzanne said. They’re all doing so well in their own right, it’s lovely to see everyone progress and do different things, it’s really nice to follow people.

“We do speak occasionally, it’s so hard because everyone’s got different schedules and are off in different parts of the country but we speak and we see each other as much as we can.”
