Emmerdale’s Liam Fox has revealed that he and his wife, Hollyoaks star Nicole Barber-Lane, help each other learn lines by pretending to be characters from each other’s soaps.

The actor – who plays Dan Spencer in Emmerdale – said he often finds himself acting the role of one of the McQueen sisters while Nicole rehearses her scripts as family matriarch Myra.

“It’s quite funny, me being Mercedes, which is a bit of a stretch!” Liam revealed

“I kind of like learning my lines on my own, but Nicole prefers having someone with her, she tends to have a lot of different scripts at once that she’s doing, she’s very, very heavy at work at the moment.”

Liam added that they are honest when it comes to assessing each other’s performances.

“We’re supportive when we think something’s good that we’ve done or if we think something’s slightly off, we’ll say as well,” he admitted. “We’re dead straightforward when it comes to things like that.”

Liam is also hoping to win the best newcomer prize at the National TV Awards, which take place on Wednesday night, and will be walking the red carpet with Nicole.

“I can’t wait. It’s a bit crazy really, I’m looking forward to it,” he said.
