Emmerdale’s Natalie Anderson says her grandma is getting sick of being quizzed by viewers about her character Alicia Metcalfe’s love life.
The ITV soap actress, who plays Alicia, told Inside Soap that her on-screen love triangle is starting to annoy her nan.
She said: “It’s getting on my grandma’s nerves a bit. She said the other day, ‘I’m sick of people talking to me about Alicia and David, asking me when they’re getting together. They should stop asking, because I don’t know anything!'”
Alicia married David Metcalfe (Matthew Wolfenden) in a sham marriage before she went to prison. But now she’s back out, she wants a real romance with David – who has moved on with Priya Sharma (Fiona Wade).
Natalie, 31, said viewers have been very vocal about what they would like to see for Alicia and David.
“They must think I have some kind of power over it, as they keep telling me that Alicia should be with David.
“I say, ‘Ok – I can only pass on your comments, but I can’t write the script.’ It’s so funny.”
Natalie also revealed that the best thing about working with Matthew is his tea-making prowess, saying: “He makes the best cup of tea! Seriously, he’s a dream and so brilliant. But he genuinely makes me a cup of tea every five minutes, which is just perfect.”
