As a terminally ill, semi-retired CIA agent, Kevin Costner gives a game turn in this diverting thriller.
He travels to Paris to eliminate an international arms dealer for Amber Heard’s sultry spook (in return for an experimental drug that could give him more time) and juggles that task with winning back his estranged wife (Connie Nieslen) and stroppy teenage daughter (Hailee Steinfeld).
Director McG sends him dashing hither and thither across the city, knocking lumps out of assorted bad guys while simultaneously trying to bond with his petulant offspring.
The plot and action sequences are hardly original, but Costner and Steinfeld’s committed performances make it well worth a look.
