Wrongly convicted of murdering his wife, a doctor (Harrison Ford) is on his way to jail when a breathtaking train accident allows him to go on the run to find the one-armed intruder who is the real culprit. But he is pursued by dogged deputy US marshal Tommy Lee Jones. This big-screen version of the popular 1960s series, which starred David Janssen, is fast-paced, twisting, edge-of-seat entertainment of the highest order. Jones has the showier role, gets all the best lines and is perfect for the part (he won an Oscar and reprised his role for the 1998 film, U.S. Marshals), but Ford is an equally charismatic presence in his usual quietly understated fashion.
