Will Team GB's most successful Olympic female rower be climbing the podium in Rio?

For Katherine Grainger, it was touch and go whether she would make the Rio Olympics. After three silvers in previous Olympics, she finally won a gold, with Anna Watkins, in the double sculls race at London 2012.

But Grainger and new partner Vicky Thornley had a disappointing European Championships this year and were forced to wait until the last moment to see whether they had made the Team GB rowing squad.

Happily they did, and today Grainger and Thornley are expected to contest the double sculls final (2.20pm), hoping to add to Grainger’s four medals to overtake Rebecca Adlington to become Britain’s most decorated female Olympian.
