It’s been a year since Sam’s death and Emma asks Chris if he wants to take some flowers together to his dad’s memorial but he says he’s made plans. Emma says he could show some respect but Chris is defiant – it’s just the anniversary of a man dying in bed, he doesn’t want to remember it. Later, at Sam’s memorial site, Emma lays some flowers by his plaque and returns to her car. Meanwhile, at a park hill top, Chris gets off his bike at the summit and, as he savours the view, he talks to his dad. ‘Hope you know I’m sorry Dad. I’m really sorry.’
When Rob turns up at The Mill with flowers for Karen and gives her a brochure for a spa and Kevin mentions the beds are great there, Karen gets annoyed when she realises he’s planning a dirty weekend. Later, Karen apologises and suggests they get another date under their belts first. As they walk along the street, Karen stops outside an Italian restaurant and says they’ve been there before – she remembers it!
But, once inside, some of the details Karen remembers don’t fit and Rob realises he’s never been there – he’s not in these memories. As Rob grows suspicious that Karen came here with someone else, the pair starts to argue and get thrown out. When Karen says she’s not the type to cheat, Rob offers to walk her home. But Karen says her mum told her never to accept invites from strangers and marches off, leaving Rob kicking himself.
