The first sequel to the 1979 sci-fi classic is every bit as good as the original. Sigourney Weaver’s Ripley wakes up from 57 years of deep sleep and takes a team of soldiers to destroy the monstrous parasite on its home turf, a planet where a human colony has foolishly made the big mistake of setting up camp. Weaver gives it all she’s got in a powerhouse performance, while director James Cameron hammers away at the nerve-ends; this awesome sci-fi blockbuster never lets up. Ripley’s friendship with a young girl (Carrie Henn, in her one and only film) gives her a chance to show her caring, sharing side, while Lance Henriksen’s android, Bill Paxton and Michael Biehn are all in peril, too.
