In this week's The Americas with Simon Reeve, Simon is in cowboy country to find out how a way of life is standing up to the modern world
Continuing The Americas with Simon Reeve, Simon’s journey through the continent of America takes him first to Montana, where he witnesses how the old cowboy way of life is struggling due to a decline in the rural economy and changing attitudes (Sunday, 9pm, see our TV Guide for full details)
But he also meets a man with a plan to transform the area by turning it into a vast reserve, combining former ranches, farms and public land into one protected area where wildlife could flourish.
As Simon travels further south he sees that smalltown America is also on the wane but he finds one town bucking that trend with an original and lucrative idea…
Finally, he visits a Colorado town, home to no less than 11 prisons, to explore the statistic that America locks up more of its citizens than any other country in the world.
