Jack Nicholson goes to town as a mean-minded obsessive compulsive who sees the error of his ways.
A romantic fiction writer, he hates everyone, especially his gay artist neighbour Greg Kinnear, and, each day, takes the same route to the restaurant where he insists on being served by single mum waitress Helen Hunt.
Nicholson being forced to help out Kinnear by looking after his dog and getting to know Hunt and her asthmatic son is the gist of this funny, heart-warming romcom that’s as good as it gets.
Nicholson and Hunt both won Oscars, Kinnear was nominated and Cuba Gooding Jr makes his irrepressible mark as Kinnear’s art dealer.
