Suicidal gambling addict Roz (the excellent Paula Malcomson) returns to the spotlight as her boss is about to uncover the massive fraud she has committed.

Facing the devastating consequences of her actions, Roz remains hell-bent on ending her life and decides to prepare her squabbling kids for coping without her by tragicomically teaching them life skills, from pasta-making to dishwasher-loading – all credit to writer Jimmy McGovern for adding black humour to such a moving story.

Poor Father Michael is at a loss as he desperately pleads with Roz to give up her tragic plan – and as he continues to be eaten up about his own past, he has another heart-to-heart with his old pal Father Peter.
