Actor Shane Richie wants to share his love of holiday parks in Channel 5’s Caravanning With Shane Richie
Former Pontins Bluecoat Shane Richie is taking his entire family to Rhyl, Wales, to stay in a caravan and must convince not only his wife Christie but their three kids (pictured above with Shane) and his in-laws that it’s a fun and cheap holiday in Channel 5’s four-part Caravanning With Shane Richie (9pm, see our TV Guide for full listings).
Will his 70-year-old mother-in-law try ziplining?!
Growing up in London, Shane always looked forward to the annual family caravan holiday.
‘It was the sense of community and the freedom that I loved the most,’ says Shane, 55, who tells TV Times more…
What inspired Caravanning With Shane Richie?
We’ve got all these fantastic places on our doorsteps so I thought it’d be great to offer some tips and share my own experiences.
Any early holiday memories?
We’d always stay in either chalets or little static caravans.
The curtains never met in the middle, the doors never seemed to fit the frames and you had those toilets that you had to pump to make them flush!
What did your family make of caravanning?
No one wanted to come back from Wales, they loved it so much.
You think of all that money you could spend on Disneyland, or five-star hotels in Barbados, and actually my kids remember more about what they did in Rhyl and doing things like playing rounders on the beach!
