For the next two nights, Champions League takes centre stage, with eight games on per night (all kick-off 7.45pm).

Tonight sees Manchester United at home to Basel, while Chelsea invite Azerbaijani minnows Qarabag and Celtic host Paris Saint-Germain (ouch…), but perhaps the biggest game on day one will be Barcelona v Juventus. Tomorrow, the fun continues as Liverpool play Sevilla at Anfield, and Spurs take on Borussia Dortmund at Wembley.

There is only one team from the British Isles playing an away game, and that’s Manchester City making the quick trip to Rotterdam on Wednesday to play Feyenoord.
