Zara is surprised to find Howard’s not at The Mill when she arrives. She dresses him down on a phone message – isn’t he supposed to be managing this place? An irate Howard arrives and tries to have a word with a busy Zara – she’s blunt and to the point: she’ll be the one buying Julia’s shares. Howard calls Zara and Daniel into his office. Zara is horrible, and Howard decides to use his ace – breaking the news to Daniel that Zara is planning on buying Julia’s shares. Daniel is shocked, and Zara storms out. Round one to Howard!

Chris has a day off, and Sam suggests they spend it together. Still unable to deal with his father’s decision to end his life, Chris is sullen. Sam tries to make him understand that this is going to happen and shows him the timetable Emma created. When Chris doesn’t reply, Sam decides to go to the park himself manoeuvring his wheelchair awkwardly out of the house. Chris knows it’s difficult for his dad, and agrees to go along.

Sam tries to make Chris understand how knowing when he’s going to die makes him appreciate life. But Chris says if he loves life, why does he want to end it? Sam explains he can’t stay for Chris and asks him to enjoy the time they have. It looks like they’re bonding as they play wheelies on Sam’s wheelchair. But Sam leans a bit too far back and falls on his remaining good arm. It’s broken. Sam inconsolable – he now has nothing.

Also, a heavily pregnant patient finding out her partner has cheated on her opens raw wounds for Zara and Daniel.
