Dr Dominic Copeland was devastated when lover Lee robbed his flat then disappeared. But there was worse to come and, when Lee’s pregnant fiancée Alison worked out the pair had had a fling and dumped him, Lee blamed Dom for ruining his life and tried to stab him! Since then, Dom’s tried hard to forget about Lee and move on, so he’s thrown when, this week, a now heavily-pregnant Alison turns up at Holby with pains in her legs and severe sickness.

Dom runs tests, which confirm Alison’s suffering complications from her previous surgery at Holby, and they must operate immediately. But Alison refuses the op – it seems she doesn’t care about herself or her unborn child! But when Alison takes a turn for the worse, she’s rushed into theatre where her baby, a boy, has to be delivered early. Later, as Alison visits her newborn son in the neo-natal ward, she admits she needs to see Lee – but Dom’s infuriated when she asks if he’ll go with her and gives her a very Dom-like response…

Serena’s surprised when her autistic nephew Jason turns up wanting a job at the hospital. Bernie gets him to write a CV – but Serena urges her not to encourage him when she’s unaware of his limitations. When Serena then insists on being the one to keep an eye on Morven, whose husband, medic Arthur Digby, has terminal cancer, Bernie warns her to loosen her grip! Later, Bernie realises Serena’s being overprotective because she feels powerless to help cancer-stricken Arthur. As Serena opens up to Bernie, it seems their friendship can be saved…
