Maya Stepney (Louisa Clein) takes a deep breath and prepares to lie her socks off as she sits down with boss Jessie Grant (Sandra Marvin). Jessie wants to know why teacher Maya hasn’t been performing to her usual standard at work.

Of course we all know Maya’s focus has been on her ‘affair’ with pupil Jacob, her boyfriend’s teenage son. But Maya’s not about to reveal that life-wrecking bombshell. Instead, she tells Jessie she’s had low-self esteem following her divorce to Liam, who’s now going out with Bernice. And Jessie buys every word.
