Hooray! The rainbow-wardrobed Michael Portillo is back for more stylish train travels, armed, as always, with his 1913 Bradshaw’s Continental Railway Guide.

This week Michael is heading east through Romania to the shores of the Black Sea. Along the way, he stops off to have a look round a fairy-tale castle with a difference in Sinaia, enjoy a musical interlude in Bucharest, and meet a bloodsucking vampire in Transylvania and brown bears in the Carpathian forest.

The journey ends at Constanta, where Michael explores Europe’s largest grain port. Much more exciting than our commute!
