Aged 16, Hanna (Saoirse Ronan) has grown up in a forest, raised alone by her father (Eric Bana) and trained from infancy to be the perfect assassin.

Now she has to go on a perilous mission into the big, wide world, where Cate Blanchett’s CIA official is eager to catch her.

Hanna’s travels take in being held in an underground bunker for interrogation and, following an audacious escape, a trip to Morocco where she hitches a ride with well-meaning, hippyish couple Jason Flemyng and Olivia Williams.

The story is outlandish, but director Joe Wright handles the action with real skill and the remarkable Ronan pulls off her far-fetched role with aplomb.
