Harry’s parents, Cath and Tony, are joined by Harry’s girlfriend, Laura, at the family home where they are preparing for his imminent arrival and 18th birthday party. Daniel pulls up at the family house in time to see Harry, a tetraplegic, being carried from an ambulance, and placed in a wheelchair.
Laura tells Daniel how her plans have changed – she’s given up on uni, and plans to be a carer for Harry. Harry is suspicious that she has a new boyfriend and angrily explains he doesn’t want her around to look after him; he doesn’t love her. Laura runs from the room in tears and tells Cath she’s going to stand by him, she’ll just have to convince him. Harry tells everyone he wants to go to a Swiss clinic, for an assisted suicide!
Also, when Julia’s friend cancels on her, she invites Zara along for a weekend away instead. They invent alter egos in an attempt to flirt with men.
