Ange needs help on a case - and the medic that turns up knows the surgeon very well...
Ange Goddard has her work cut out dealing with a young patient this week in Holby City.
Ange (Dawn Steele) diagnoses Holly with appendicitis but the girl is too afraid for surgery. When Ange learns Holly underwent heart surgery as a kid and bonded with a certain doctor, she reluctantly calls them for help… it’s Chloe, Ange’s daughter!
Holly’s thrilled to see Chloe (Shetland’s Amy Lennox) and, as they get reacquainted, Chloe convinces Holly to have the operation.
Ange and Chloe’s reunion isn’t nearly so harmonious, though, as it’s revealed Chloe’s annoyed with her mum for previously offering unwanted relationship advice. Can they work together?
Elsewhere, the NHS winter crisis pushes esteemed surgeon Ric Griffin (Hugh Quarshie) to breaking point, as AAU is overrun with one emergency after another. Things come to a head when one patient takes drastic action to ensure he’s seen immediately, with tragic consequences.
The day’s events soon make Ric consider whether it’s time to hang up his stethoscope. But he knows he has to fight for the changes he wants to see and, later, vows to make his voice heard…
Also, Jac and Fletch are concerned as Frieda as fights off her grief.
Holby continues Tuesdays at 8pm on BBC1.
