As he hides his painful secret from his loved ones, consultant Sacha Levy realises the festive season is all about family…
It’s almost Christmas and, although Sacha Levy has been having treatment for his depression, he’s not really feeling full of festive joy. His day gets brighter, however, when his daughter Beka turns up at Holby.
Beka’s fallen out with her mum and wants to come and stay with him. Sacha tells Beka that’s not possible as he’s busy with work – but the real reason is that he can’t bring himself to tell her about his ongoing mental health issues.
“At his lowest ebb, Sacha had lost touch with his family and believed his children felt they could live without him,” says Bob Barrett, who plays Sacha. “He became good at hiding his depression.”
Following a gentle nudge from Hanssen (Guy Henry), a struggling Sacha eventually opens up to Beka about his illness. As an emotional Beka hugs her dad, Sacha’s relief is obvious. Later, Beka reveals she wants to spend more time with him – will he have a happy Christmas?
Elsewhere, it’s the morning after the night before, and Mo takes a wayward Nicky under her wing when the medic has to treat patient she spent the night with! And Jason worries over his heartbroken Auntie Serena.
Holby City continues Tuesdays at 8pm on BBC1.
