It’s John Cleese’s first sitcom since Fawlty Towers, but forget Basil and Torquay – this is a gentler, more romantic comedy with fewer laughs but heaps of charm.
Alison Steadman stars as Edith, a widow who has fallen in love with her neighbour, Phil (Cleese).
Not content with popping round for tea, he wants them to get married and move to sunny Spain for the good life.
He might just be winning her round, but who’s about to knock at the door?
Edith’s grown-up son, Roger (played by the brilliant Jason Watkins), who announces he’s divorcing his wife and moving back home with a pile of washing for Mummy to sort out…
