Igor

The humour in this animated gothic spoof of Frankenstein isn't so much jocular as jugular, with John Cusack providing the voice of the title character, a hapless hunchbacked lab assistant to a mad scientist (John Cleese) who dreams of building his own monster.

The humour in this animated gothic spoof of Frankenstein isn’t so much jocular as jugular, with John Cusack providing the voice of the title character, a hapless hunchbacked lab assistant to a mad scientist (John Cleese) who dreams of building his own monster. Except that all of Igor’s creations – including the reanimated body of an angry rabbit (Steve Buscemi), a disembodied brain floating in a recycled vacuum cleaner (Sean Hayes) and a less-than-monstrous wannabe actress stitched together from mismatched body parts (Molly Shannon) – are all crushing disappointments. Although the jokes have a morbid edge, the characters are delightfully silly and the film itself is quite genial. It should provide good fun for  kids – and adults – with a weird sense of humour.
