Rose Byrne and Patrick Wilson star in a terrifying haunted house horror film packed with shocks and scares that will have you jumping out of your seat.
They’re a young couple who move into a new home with their two sons and baby daughter, but it appears that some malevolent paranormal beings have moved in as well…
The best thing about this movie is the way the film-makers slowly rack up the tension. The ghostly apparitions are subtle, just faces appearing in windows and from out of darkened corners, but it works. So do the sound effects, with creaks, groans, whispers and very loud piano strings keeping you on edge.
It’s all very effective in a cleverly crafted chiller from Saw creators, director James Wan and writer Leigh Whannell.
