Italian foodie programmes are so popular, the networks could save money and send Gino D’Acampo, Giorgio Locatelli, Antonio Carluccio and Gennaro Contaldo on a sort of Coach Trip together. In this series, though (first shown last November), Gino heads off solo in a Fiat as he begins a journey around Sardinia and Sicily. Tonight, he cooks a suckling pig at his house in northern Sardinia before exploring Alghero on the west coast – which still has Catalan street names from the time it was under Spanish rule – and the nearby caves, Grotte di Nettuna.
