Jimmi helps a father and son reconnect

Alex is off school due to his asthma when he falls and cuts his hand. Out on the street, a police officer spots him but, when he touches Alex, the boy kicks him. Realising Alex doesn’t like to be touched, Jimmi tells Rob the boy may be on the autism spectrum. But when Rob tries to persuade him to try again, Jimmi heads out insisting his shift is over. Alex’s father, Mike, collects Alex and their strained relationship is noted by Jimmi and Rob, especially when Alex protests that his mum would have understood him if she was still alive.

As Mike and Alex head home to work on repairing their relationship, Rob commends Jimmi on a job well done. With a hint of irony, Jimmi replies that father and son relationships are obviously his speciality…
