Peter is staying with his mother, Rose, when she hurts her back. Peter brings her to The Mill and Karen suspects Peter may be abusing his mother. But Peter reveals that his mother used to lock him the scullery while she has affairs with other men. Rose shows herself to be callous and refuses to apologise. Realising that their relationship is over, Peter leaves.

Heston is preparing for his departure from The Mill. At the end of the day, when everyone else has gone home, Heston is terrified when Curtis Brown, the man who robbed him and was sent to jail, appears in his office.

The other partners are worried about filling the void left by Heston. Daniel then proceeds to drop a bombshell – he and Zara is going to Australia for three weeks, leaving Howard as the only remaining partner. Howard asks Heston to convince Emma to buy into the partnership.
