It’s Prohibition America, and fugitive Bruce Willis arrives in the godforsaken Texas town of Jericho to find a bed for the night and ends up taking on Christopher Walken as he plays off two bootlegger gangs against each other.

The violence is loud and frequent as sharp-shooter Willis starts blasting various gang members into oblivion, but it is also grimly atmospheric, the soundtrack by Ry Cooder is excellent and the photography of the parched landscapes look stunning.
